Bequests
Designate Historic Northampton as the recipient of cash, real estate, or another asset in your will.  Or you can leave a percentage of your overall estate to Historic Northampton.
A meaningful legacy gift can be made by listing Historic Northampton as a beneficiary of your will.  While we suggest you consult your estate planning professional regarding bequests, you can use the following language: "I give the sum of $_______ [or a percentage, the rest, residue or remainder of my estate] to Historic Northampton with its principal office in Northampton, MA, or its successors, for general purposes, without restrictions."
Other Legacy Gifts
There are other ways besides bequests to help Historic Northampton benefit generations to come.

Examples:
  • Retirement plan assets
  • Real estate gifts
  • Life income gifts (Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Gift Annuities)
  • Retained life estate
  • Gift of life insurance
For more information, contact Laurie Sanders, Co-director of Historic Northampton, at 413-584-6011 or lsanders @ historicnorthampton.org.
A Gift of Stock
If the value of your investments has risen, you might consider making a gift of stock to Historic Northampton.  It's a simple process and can provide you with significant tax savings.

You can deduct your shares of stock as a charitable donation and  you won't pay any capital gains tax on them.  You must, however, have held the stock for more than one year to qualify for tax savings.

To request instructions for sending your gift of appreciated securities, please call  Laurie Sanders, co-director, at (413) 584-6011 or write to her at lsanders @ historicnorthampton.org.

Your generosity is much needed and deeply appreciated.
