ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Historic Northampton is grateful to the following organizations for their grant support:
Northampton's Community Preservation Committee

Picture
A grant from the Community Preservation Committee has funded critical repairs to the Parsons, Shepherd and Damon houses.  Restoration carpenter Kris Thomson reattached the back wall of Parsons House and built a new foundation.  Tree-trunk posts in Shepherd basement were re-attached with concrete pads.  In Damon House, deteriorating windows were repaired and reinstalled with protective storm windows.

The William G. Pomeroy Foundation

Picture
In March 2015, The William G. Pomeroy Foundation provided critical support to Historic Northampton in the form of a $20,000 operating support grant.

The William G. Pomeroy Foundation: For History, For Life of New York helps to preserve history and supports programs related to blood cancers.

The Anonymous Donor of the $25,000 Membership Challenge Grant

In January 2016, Historic Northampton was awarded a $25,000 membership challenge grant from an anonymous donor.   The grant was awarded through the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts.

In 2015, this anonymous benefactor challenged the museum to raise $25,000 in new or returning memberships by December 31, 2015.  Over 260 new members joined over 60 returning members to meet this challenge.  Thanks to each and every member - and to our anonymous donor - Historic Northampton is 500 members strong.

The Parsons Family Association

Picture
The Parsons Family Association provided funding towards replacing a steel snowman boiler with an energy-efficient gas boiler; volunteered numerous hours for a major spring yard clean-up and donated funds towards upgrading the electrical wiring in Parsons House.

The Beveridge Family Foundation

Picture
The Beveridge Family Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant towards the museum’s basement stabilization project. The funds were used to purchase high-quality dehumidifiers, essential for safeguarding the restoration work by stabilizing humidity.

Anonymous: Rediscovering Northampton with naturalist Laurie Sanders
Picture
The six-part lecture series Rediscovering Northampton: Local History Viewed Through an Ecological Lens with naturalist Laurie Sanders is made possible by a generous donation from an anonymous donor.

Craig Della Penna of Murphy's Realtors

Picture
When Rediscovering Northampton with naturalist Laurie Sanders attracted a large audience, Craig Della Penna provided additional funding for the custodial fees associated with the larger venue at Weinstein Auditorium in Wright Hall at Smith College.

Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts

Picture
The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts awarded a grant of $12,000 for Northampton Timelines from the Joan Walker Memorial Fund and the Nan and Matilda Heydt Fund.  Northampton Timelines is a website that seeks to connect hotspots on a map to the history of each location.

The Arts Angels Fund at the Community Foundation

Picture
The Arts Angels Fund at the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts awarded a grant of $1500 for the monthly exhibit and lecture series, Contemporary Art at Historic Northampton.

Mass Humanities

Valley Gives Day 2014

Picture
Mass Humanities provided a project grant of $5,000 to fund a public archaeological excavation at Parsons House. Over 200 schoolchildren and 150 adults visited the dig site to learn archaeology firsthand.

Picture
Valley Gives Day donors contributed over $3,500 towards The Parsons House Community Archaeology Dig on December 10, 2014. These donations were necessary to match the project grant from Mass Humanities.

So many individuals and businesses have helped us get back on our feet this year. Our aim is to recognize at least some of them here.
