Parsing the Past of the Parsons House
Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 2 pm
Historic Northampton, Bridge Street, Northampton, MA
From September 18-22, 2017, Archaeological Consulting Services will conduct a small archaeological dig behind Parsons House.  The public is invited to two programs related to the dig:

Public Invitation to the Archaeology Dig
Thursday, September 21st | 10:30 am - 3 pm

Last fall, brickwork indicating the presence of a well or cistern was uncovered underneath a 20th-century shed during renovation work.  A token from the New York, New Haven and Northampton railroad was discovered near the surface and it is likely that other artifacts will be found in or around this area.
On September 21st, you’re invited to come by the site, talk to professional archaeologists Craig Chartier and Greg Walwer and see what they’re doing and finding.

Parsing the Past of the Parsons House
Sunday, September 24th | 2 pm

Professional archaeologist Craig Chartier will discuss the finds from the excavation behind the Parsons House during the past week and explain the discoveries and observations within the context of the history of the house (1719), the history of the town and similar sites in New England.
Register
A suggested donation of $5-10 will help defray the costs of the archaeological site examination.
