Age and disease have taken their toll on two of Historic Northampton’s large sugar maples and we have made the difficult decision to take them down before they fall and cause damage to either the Shepherd barn (1806) or Parsons House (1719). All are welcome to gather at the sugar maple near the Historic Parsons House and consider this tree’s history--who has passed by during its life time, what are some of the major changes that have taken place since it took root. We will read some tree-related poetry and celebrate its life.
