Grounds of Historic Northampton 46-66 Bridge Street, Northampton, Massachusetts Commitment
Participants must commit to attending either one entire weekend or both weekends. |
During the last ten years, Historic Northampton has provided garden space to Bridge Street School for their hands-on “Sprouts” gardening program. This year Historic Northampton has built new garden beds, and during April, we will build a larger garden shed to store all the program’s equipment (shovels, rakes, gardening gloves, wheelbarrows).
The shed's timber frame will be built over two weekends with traditional timber frame joinery. Expert timber framer Alicia Spence will teach volunteers the craft of timber framing, the use of hand and power tools, and how to cut and pre-fit the timber frame. |
Crew size is limited to 6 people each weekend. No previous experience with timber framing or carpentry is required. Persistence, care and enthusiasm are far more valuable; we will teach you the joinery. Note: you must commit to attending either one entire weekend or both weekends.
